Install and first launch
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A Mac with macOS 26.6 or later. Pullwatch is a universal app, so it runs natively on Apple silicon and on Intel.
- An account on at least one of github.com, a GitHub Enterprise server (Server or GHE.com), Azure DevOps or GitLab (gitlab.com or your own server).
Install
Section titled “Install”- Download the latest
Pullwatch-x.y.z.dmgfrom the releases page. - Open the disk image and drag Pullwatch onto Applications.
- Open Pullwatch from Applications, Spotlight or Launchpad.
Every release is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning.
The welcome window
Section titled “The welcome window”On the first launch Pullwatch opens a welcome window that walks you through the setup:
- Where Pullwatch lives. It runs in the menu bar; the welcome window points out the icon.
- Your first account. Pick GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps or GitLab. See Add your accounts for each one.
- Notifications. macOS asks once whether Pullwatch may send notifications. Allow it to hear about new pull requests and tags as soon as they appear.
- Launch at login, so Pullwatch is there after a restart.
After that Pullwatch polls your accounts in the background. The first time it also fetches your existing pull requests, so the history is not empty. Those do not notify you and arrive marked as read.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”- The menu bar icon opens the menu panel with the newest pull requests and tags.
- Open… in the menu panel opens the main window with PRs, Tags and Releases, Statistics, Repositories and Dependencies. It remembers the section you had open last.
- Settings is the gear button in the menu panel, or ⌘, while Pullwatch is in front.
While one of its windows is open, Pullwatch shows in the Dock. Close the last window and it runs from the menu bar only. Opening Pullwatch again while it runs brings up the main window (or the welcome window while no account is set up).
Updates
Section titled “Updates”Pullwatch looks for a new release once a day (Settings, General, where Check now looks right away). When there is one you get a notification and a banner in the menu panel. Install shows the release notes; then Sparkle downloads the update, checks its EdDSA signature and its Developer ID signature, installs it and restarts Pullwatch.
Under Settings, General, Install updates automatically downloads an update in the background and installs it when you quit Pullwatch, and Include test versions also offers pre-releases.
A build without Sparkle’s public key, such as one you build from source, shows a button that downloads the disk image instead.
Language
Section titled “Language”Pullwatch speaks English, Dutch, German and French. It follows the language of macOS, or you pick one under Settings, General, Language.
